THE COTTAGE
- Arts Center of Coastal Carolina, SC -
By Sandy Rustin
Fresh off a successful Broadway run! Set in 1923 in a posh English country estate (aka the “cottage”), this is an outrageous tale of sex, betrayal, and desire as one woman decides to expose her latest affair to both her husband, her lover’s wife, and her lover's lover's husband. Hilarious from start to finish, with a few scandalous – and even murderous - plot twists that will keep audiences on the edge of their seats! A sensational, feminist twist on a classic British period drama that features melodramatic reveals and outrageous one-liners. If home is where the heart is, then The Cottage is where the mind's deepest, darkest, and most salacious secrets go to fight and frolic in the fresh country air. Directed by Blake White |
YANKEE TAVERN
-Riverside Theatre, FL-
By Steven Dietz Yankee Tavern is a crumbling New York City bar. It is the place where people come to drink, connect and share stories that are only told in those places. One day, Adam, the young owner, and Janet, his fiancé, become embroiled in a conspiracy theory of personal and national significance when a stranger enters the bar and seems to know more than he should about the September 11th terrorist attacks. Yankee Tavern is a thriller laced with introspection and comedy. Directed by Allen D. Cornell "Emily Verla brings such believability to Janet, taking her through a range of emotions. She fleshes out Janet as a most likable, strong but wounded creature, who frets over the safety of Adam." - Pam Harbaugh: Vero News "At times funny, tense, mysterious and downright scary, Yankee Tavern speeds to a conclusion that leaves you emotionally spent....Patrick M. Byrnes and Emily Verla are perfect as the young couple wrestling with young couple issues as well as one major issue that trumps everything in their relationship." - Milt Thomas: Indian River Guardian |
